Q:  Is the Fairytales and Feelings class for children who have special needs?
A:  Every child has feelings.  These programs are designed to help all children address the feelings they face every day.  However, DAI programs have been used successfully with special needs populations as well including highly gifted children, those with ASD and sensory integration disorder.

Q: Is the beginner Fairytales and Feelings class a ‘touchy-feely’ class where everyone sits around sharing their feelings?
A: Absolutely not! We address the feelings and experiences that we all have in common such as the frustration when learning new things.  If there are personal emotion experiences a child wants to discuss, we encourage them to share with their grownup. We provide a playful environment for children to communicate their feelings with their parent.  Children learn that feelings are normal, discussing them feels good, and that parents are partners in problem solving.

Q: Can both parents attend the parent /child class?
A: Please do.  Parents attend the class in order to share in the experience with their child and learn tools the whole family can use.  When both parents are involved it creates stronger unified consistency in implementing the tools at home.

Q: Can I make up classes?
A:  In the Fairytales series, each class is self-contained so it is easy to make up missed classes during another time.  Consult with your program facilitator.

Q: How do I know if/when my child is ready for your class?
A: Children develop at different rates physically, mentally and emotionally. A child is ready for a DAI class when he/she:
1. Attentively listens to stories
2. Is comfortable sitting still for at least 10 minutes
3. Follows simple directions
4. Enjoys imaginary and dramatic play

Q: My child has a very difficult time managing anger and acts out aggressively. Can Fairytales and Feelings help?
A: Skills taught in this program may be helpful to both you and your child. This program is not intended to replace professional support when needed. We do not make individual evaluations. To address more challenging needs, we recommend you seek advice from your child's physician.  Often times, physicians recommend our classes!!!

Q: My child feels uncomfortable showing feelings.  Is Fairytales and Feelings a good fit?
A: Absolutely.  Most children who feel uncomfortable with feelings find this class to be the perfect environment to become increasing comfortable and informed.

Q: My child does not watch television or movies. Will the Super Hero Academy be a bad fit?
A: We spend a few minutes on the first day of the Super Hero Camp discussing favorite popular superheroes, so everyone can be on the same page.  Then, we leave them behind and create our own.

Q:  Are your programs like therapy?
A:  No. Our programs provide creative and practical tools to address everyday issues that everyone shares.  We have been known to partner with therapists to address specific needs, but our programs are in no way intended to replace the care of a medical professional.  They are for education and entertainment only.  We do not provide individual assessment or treatment.

Q:  My child is really smart.  Does he really need this training or will he ‘get’ it on his own?
A:  Even smart kids go to school!  Thoughtful education prepares children by giving them the skills and knowledge they need to lead successful and productive lives.  This is an education most children will not receive in school and leverages each child’s individual intelligence level.  As renowned Author, Daniel Goleman says, “Emotional Intelligence can matter more than I.Q. “

Q:  I have a younger child that I may need to bring to the parent/child Fairytales and Feelings Series.  Is this a problem?
A:   We understand that childcare is often an issue.  Though it is fine to bring a younger child, you and your older child will benefit from the class even more when you are not distracted. Young children generate emotions for their older brothers and sisters.  Quality one-on-one time is often time what the older child needs most.
